At Castor Care Home, we delivered a complete care home glazing package in Peterborough. Our team designed, supplied and installed every window and door on the building, including the fully automated entrance screens.
What the building needed
Glazing in a care setting has a lot to balance. First, rooms need to be warm, comfortable and full of daylight for residents. Doors also need to be easy and safe to move through for residents, visitors and staff.
In addition, the building has to keep its running costs under control. Finally, it should feel welcoming and homely rather than institutional.
Our approach to care home glazing
We brought together three systems, and each one does a specific job.
Deceuninck flush casement windows sit flush within the frame, which gives a clean, traditional timber-style look. They also offer modern thermal performance, so rooms stay warm without high heating bills.
Senior Architectural Systems curtain walling opens up the larger areas of the building to natural light. As a result, shared spaces feel bright and open.
Meanwhile, Aluco steel-look internal screens divide spaces while still letting light pass through. They add a contemporary design feature, too, without making corridors or lounges feel closed in.
Finally, the automated entrance screens open without anyone needing to push a door. That makes the main entrance much easier for wheelchair users, people with walking aids and staff with their hands full.
The result
Together, the care home glazing improves the building’s appearance, its energy efficiency and the day-to-day comfort of the people who live and work there.
