Engineered timber windows for a Lincolnshire new build
Working with Player Roberts Bell Architects and NSA Builders, we designed, supplied and installed engineered timber windows and doors for this private new-build home in Stubton, Lincolnshire.
The brief
The design called for a traditional, heritage look, with painted frames, glazing bars and a large orangery-style garden room. However, this is a new home, so the windows and doors also had to deliver the thermal performance and security that people expect today.
The house also had to sit comfortably in its village setting. For that reason, getting the proportions and details of every window right mattered just as much as the choice of material.
Why we chose engineered timber windows for this Lincolnshire home
Engineered timber was the natural choice. It has the authentic look and feel of traditional joinery. Even so, because it is built up from bonded layers of timber, it is more stable than solid timber and much less likely to twist or warp over time.
It also takes a painted finish well, so we could match the frames to the brickwork and the home’s overall palette. As a result, the glazing feels like it has always been part of the building. This guide to modern timber windows explains how far timber window design has come.
Working with the project team
We worked alongside the architect and the builder from design through to installation. That way, the window and door details fitted the drawings, and the work on site ran smoothly.
Engineered timber windows are a great fit for new homes with traditional character, whether in Lincolnshire villages like Stubton or further afield.
The result
The finished home has the charm of a period property with the comfort of a new build. The painted frames and orangery give it real character, while the engineered timber windows and doors keep it warm and secure.
