Triple-glazed sliding doors in Nottinghamshire
For this private home in Nottinghamshire, we designed, supplied and installed slim triple-glazed sliding doors alongside a range of other aluminium glazing. Together, they open the house up to the garden and fill it with light.
The brief
The property combines traditional brick with timber cladding and other natural materials. The owners wanted much more daylight and a stronger connection to the garden. However, the new glazing also had to sit naturally alongside those materials rather than compete with them.

How we designed the sliding doors for this Nottinghamshire home
The sliding doors use slim interlocking profiles. Because the frames take up so little of each opening, more of it is glass, and so more light reaches the rooms inside. We also chose frame colours to tone with the brick and timber around them.
Triple glazing was a key part of the specification. It helps keep the open-plan spaces warm in winter, and it cuts outside noise, too. For more on how glazing affects running costs, the Energy Saving Trust has a useful guide.
The detail you don’t see
One of the most important details sits at floor level. We had the cills made bespoke from Purenit, a high-density insulating material, and finished them with aluminium covers. As a result, the doors have a stable, level base. In addition, there is far less heat loss at the threshold, which is often a weak point on large openings.

The result
The finished glazing brings far more light into the home, and the garden now feels like part of the living space. Meanwhile, the new doors sit comfortably alongside the original brick and timber. It shows how modern sliding doors can suit a characterful Nottinghamshire home without losing what makes it special.
