Lucent House, London

Lucent House, Hackney, a London apartment building with commercial glazing and corner windows

Commercial glazing in London for Lucent House

Lucent House is a development on Rendlesham Road in Hackney, and we delivered its commercial glazing in London for Goldrose Sharpe Developments. Our team provided a full design, supply and install package covering the windows, doors and curtain walling.

The building combines nine two- and three-bedroom apartments, each with a balcony or terrace, with commercial space at ground level. As a result, the glazing had to work for both homes and businesses.

The challenge

Access was the biggest hurdle. The site was extremely tight, so there was no practical way to move large glass units into place by hand. Instead, we lifted the panels into position by crane and fixed them in place.

That took careful planning, from scheduling the lifts to coordinating with other trades on site. However, it is exactly the kind of problem our team enjoys solving.

Crane lifts on a tight urban site depend on good timing. So we planned each lift around the build programme, which kept disruption to the other trades to a minimum.

The commercial glazing systems we installed

We chose proven commercial systems for every part of the building.

The Reynaers CP130 lift-and-slide doors are designed to carry large, heavy glass panels, yet they still glide open with little effort. Meanwhile, the acoustic glass helps keep the noise of a busy city out of the apartments.

The result

Lucent House shows how we approach commercial glazing in London and beyond: the right systems, careful planning and a team that can handle difficult sites. Every system suited a mixed-use building, and the whole package came from one team, from the first drawings to the final fix.
